Tiers of intervention are a useful way of identifying the group of students that may benefit from a given intervention, from all students (tier 1), to students at-risk or showing signs of behavior difficulty (tier 2), to students with chronic or intense behavior needs (tier 3). While some strategies are specifically designed for a particular tier of intervention, many strategies can be adapted for implementation across more than one tier or target groups. Below are lists of strategies for improving student behavior and implementing effective discipline organized by their recommended tier(s) of intervention.
